HR/P Transformation: What You Need to Know

As part of the Human Resources/Payroll Transformation Initiative, Rutgers will transition from PeopleSoft to Oracle Human Capital Management (HCM), a cloud-based platform designed to modernize the university’s HR and payroll systems and improve efficiency across all campuses.

Why does HR/P Transformation matter?

HR/P Transformation will impact many aspects of university operations, including a few front-facing changes that will impact individual employees’ daily routines, such as:

  • Time Tracking: Once the new system is implemented, the university will move from seven timekeeping platforms to just two, and all hourly employees will need to enter their time worked and absences to be paid.
  • Approvals: All compensatory time and overtime hours will require approval by a manager or administrator. Only one level of approval will be required.
  • Faster, improved processing: The university will achieve quicker and more accurate time and records for all employee lifecycle transactions, including hiring, job changes, and terminations.
  • Better tracking: There will be clearer definitions and management of roles, responsibilities, hierarchies, reporting relationships, salaries and wages, and headcounts.
  • Efficiency: The platforms will provide standardized business processes and workforce planning capabilities, including position-based planning and streamlined recruitment and onboarding.

Timeline and Impact

The timeline for this project has been extended to March 2027. In the meantime, it is important to understand how these changes will affect your daily work. Put simply: If you need to fill out a timesheet, request time off, approve time off for others, or take sick time, this transformation will affect you. Stay tuned for further updates and resources as we approach the go-live date.
