Consolidating Time Entry Systems from Seven to Just Two

Through the Human Resources/Payroll Transformation Initiative, Rutgers is streamlining its time-reporting systems.  We are moving from seven legacy systems, which include PeopleSoft web clock, Zed, Dovico, Orange, and paper timesheets, to just two: Oracle Cloud HCM’s Time and Labor (OTL) web clock and Kronos.

What this means for you:

  • Systems shift: Employees who previously used these systems will transition to the OTL web clock. There will be changes in how time is entered, edited, and viewed in PeopleSoft vs. Oracle HCM, and those changes will be covered during user training. While the core functionality may be similar, the interface may look different. Those already using Kronos will continue to do so.
  • Updated terminology: There will be minor changes in titles, for example, “Timekeepers” will be “Time Administrators.”
  • Mandatory time entry: All hourly employees will need to enter their time worked and time off to get paid.
  • Simplified approvals: All compensatory time and overtime hours will require approval by a manager or an administrator. As with PeopleSoft, only one level of approval will be required within the new system.

To ensure a smooth transition, training will be available in the form of live webinars, self-service online training, and reference materials.
