HR/P Transformation go-live date extended to July 1, 2025

Having identified several items that will require additional design, configuration, and testing, university leadership has approved an extension to the project timeline for the transition from PeopleSoft to Oracle HCM (Human Capital Management). Instead of launching in January 2025, the new system now will go live on July 1, 2025.

This one-time, six-month extension gives the project team working on the Human Resources/Payroll (HR/P) Transformation initiative necessary time to design solutions, socialize new business processes, and thoroughly test the system before implementation.

Adhering to the original timeline would have meant compressing more work into less time, thereby increasing the risk of an unsuccessful launch, negative impacts to work in other areas, and ultimately, a poor user experience. Extending the timeline not only mitigates these issues but also ensures there will be ample time and opportunity for testing, and for everyone in the Rutgers community to complete training before the launch of the Oracle HCM system.

In light of the extension, the HR/P project team and its stakeholders are realigning the work to ensure they are making the best use of the extra time. One of the first steps in this process was for the broader project group—including staff members in University Finance and Administration, Office of Information Technology, University Human Resources and external implementation partners—to meet for a two-day, in-person retreat.

During that time, the team began revising the project plan, reallocating responsibilities, and setting up a revised, high-level timeline that will lead to the future-state business process review (BPR) this fall, along with parallel testing in Payroll. User acceptance testing (UAT) and user training will begin in 2025.

The first element in the revised schedule is the resolution of some uncompleted tasks, such as wrapping up workflows, that are by-products of the first two completed stages of systems integration testing (SIT). Once those tasks are finished, the team will move to the third cycle of the testing.

The future-state BPR is scheduled for October.
